Apple Proudly Reports High Adoption Rates For iOS 9 on The Apps Depot Blog
The latest info from Apple shows that the adoption rate for iOS9, their most recent operational system, is quite high. Only released in October, the system now runs almost 70% of Apple devices that support it.

While it’s only mere 7 percent higher than the adoption rate of the previous iteration, iOS 8 within the same period, it shows that users are eager to update sooner to enjoy the perks brought about by this release. Of course, one should keep in mind that iOS 9 requires only 1.5 GB to update while iOS 8 demanded 6 GB, which was a bit steep for my 16GB device.

This might explain why some 22% of Apple devices are still running iOS 8. The remaining 8% percent are likely to be older devices that couldn’t be upgraded.

In retrospect, of course, nothing beats the highly anticipated iOS 7, whose adoption rates went through the roof, partly due to a completely revamped new looks.

The wide range of supported devices might have helped iOS 9’s cause as older devices like iPad 2 are still capable of running it. Sure, you can’t enjoy all the features like split-screen multitasking, but you have the wallpapers, right?

The Cupertino giant didn’t go out on the streets to conduct surveys - this statistic is based on the App Store usage breakdown.
