How to Stop Your iOS Device From Asking For Updates on The Apps Depot Blog

Are you tired of getting constant reminders to update your iPhone? While some people like getting the updates, others may not be so willing. If for some reason you prefer not to update to the most recent version of iOS and want to avoid being bothered, this article is created to help you. Continue reading to figure out how to stop getting asked to update your iOS device.

Why does Apple remind you to update?

Obviously, the main reasons for the update include the introduction of improved security and enhanced performance, which is why you have to complete a number of steps to disable receiving of such notifications. Apple uses the feature called Automatic Downloads to make sure people receive the newest version of iOS for their devices. In such a way, the updates get downloaded in the background, and when the process is finished, you are asked to install them because they are already on your device waiting to be activated.

Turn off automatic updates

Easy disabling of automatic iOS updates

This method won’t be useful if you want to deal with an already present update, but it will prevent receiving of the notifications in the future. To achieve this, you should:

  1. Tap Settings.
  2. Choose iTunes & App Stores.
  3. Underneath Automatic Downloads, set Updates to Off.

Delete the downloaded updates

Getting rid of the downloaded update in Settings of your phone

If you want to remove the update that has been downloaded to your iOS device, you have to:

  1. Tap Settings and General.
  2. Select Storage & iCloud Usage.
  3. Below Storage, choose the first Manage Storage option.
  4. Go for Delete Update.
  5. In the alert window, tap Delete Update.

This method will delete the most recent update, and you will stop getting notifications in the future. It should be noted that some users experience re-downloading of the updates when their iPhones are connected to Wi-Fi. In this case, we recommend repeating the process. Also, once you complete these steps, you will still receive notifications from App Store every few months when a new version becomes available, but it won’t be every day.

Avoid notifications using these two methods

It can be quite annoying to constantly receive the requests to update your operational system, especially if you have no desire to do so. Fortunately, with the help of these methods, you can prevent receiving of such alerts in the future and also remove the ones that got downloaded.
